Experiential Learning in Action

Experiential learning is "the process whereby knowledge is created through the transformation of experience. Knowledge results from the combination of grasping and transforming experience" (Kolb, 1984). Experiential learning is a perfect solution to integrate the development of generic competencies into the curriculum. A selection of experiential learning cases around the world have been collected, with some focusing on the pedagogical approaches and some on the assessment. The cases provide empirical, fresh and feasible exemplars for education practitioners, researchers and students to learn more about experiential learning and the relevant challenges and implementations across different disciplines.. The practices are categorised into four divisions - projects, field trips, community services and internships - and are presented below in the form of case studies.
